Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Adult Education Instructor on the Walnut Ridge campus. This position may require evening or weekend hours. This is a full-time, nine-month position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Adult Education Instructor will be responsible for teaching Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED and GED courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting. Subjects taught will include but not be limited to the GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science and math) and adult basic education skill areas (language, math, and reading). The Instructor may also be responsible for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, computer literacy classes, or workplace classes.
Other responsibilities of the instructor include: administering the TABE assessment to determine individual skills and TABE post-tests to determine progress according to recommended guidelines, administering the GED Ready pre-test and making assignments or referrals based on the results, and completing and maintaining appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records.
The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree and possess a current Arkansas Teaching Certificate. Adult Education Certification is required within three years of hire date.
