Black River Technical College offers a one year technical certificate in nutrition and foodservice management. This program, which is approved by the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals, enables graduates to earn the Certified Dietary Manager credential. After completion, students are eligible to pursue the Associate of Applied Science in Nutrition and Dietetics to become a Dietetic Technician, Registered. Graduates of the AAS in Nutrition and Dietetics may also continue their education at the university level to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Employment in the field of nutrition and dietetics is expected to grow by 16% by 2021 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Students may find employment in a variety of settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, school nutrition programs, public health nutrition programs, rehabilitation facilities, correctional facilities, college or university foodservice, retirement communities, restaurant management, food distribution companies, catering and wellness promotion.
