Associate of Science in Agriculture
Black River Technical College is excited to offer an Associate of Science in Agriculture beginning Fall 2016. The 2-year associate degree is designed to equip students with broad knowledge of agriculture and emphasize the application of business and scientific principles to the problems and issues of agriculture related to animal, plant, soils and agribusiness. The 2-year degree will prepare students for employment or transfer to a 4-year institution.
Enrolling in Classes
Articulation/Transfer to 4-Year College
Arkansas State University and Black River Technical College have an articulation which will allow students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, emphasis in Agriculture Business, to transfer seamlessly. Students who earn the Associate of Science in Agriculture at BRTC will be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, emphasis in Agriculture Business, at ASU as a junior if all admission requirements are met.
Courses may apply to other 4-year degrees as well.
Graduates of the program will find employment in many sectors of agriculture:
- agricultural finance,
- federal and local government,
- local co-ops,
- local businesses,
- farm consulting,
- chemical sales, and
- local farming operations.
Internship opportunities may exist for interested students who are enrolled in the agriculture program at Black River Technical College. Some possible internships may be provided by
- Financial Institutions,
- Landscaping Businesses,
- Poultry Industry, and
- Farm Implement Companies.
Information about internships will be made available through the Agriculture department coordinator.
