Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Instructional Designer on the Pocahontas Campus. This position is a full-time, temporary, non-classified grant position with the possibility of expanded grant funds for future years.
The Instructional Designer works under the supervision of the Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology. The primary responsibilities of the Instructional Designer includes weekly visits to Career and Technical Educational (CTE) classrooms and shops; weekly collaboration with CTE faculty; mapping, planning, and developing engaging, interactive learning activities and course content; filming and photography for use in creating faculty led videos/audios, test questions, and other resources; designing and creating online classes for CTE courses; assisting other faculty with questions; and is responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology. The Instructional Designer may be required to travel to all BRTC instructional locations.
The formal education equivalent of a baccalaureate degree is required, but a master’s degree is preferred with a major in instructional design or a related field, plus two years of experience applying instructional design in an educational setting. Preference will be given to applicants with prior instructional design experience, LMS experience, and experience creating online content in an educational setting. Applicants should be willing to continue their education through professional development.
