Black River Technical College’s students now have the opportunity to take advanced courses at the regular tuition price but get University of Arkansas credit through the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) program.
Any student who is enrolled in at least one BRTC course can take online science, engineering and math classes through the U of A and gain credit towards their associate degree. Why is the U of A setting up this program? They realized their students pursing degrees in science, engineering and math were needing a little extra help in their courses. They also realized if they could offer these courses to students at a community college where they would be able to get more individual attention students would be more likely to succeed.
Students must meet the pre/co-requisites for the course they would like to take and there is a $40 application fee. Students interested in this program need to meet with their advisor. To visit U of A website for more information type stemprep.uark.edu.
